Unlock the World of Sumo
with Experienced Guide Yuko:

Feel the Heartbeat of Sumo in Tokyo!

Overview

Discover the dynamic world of Sumo, a living tradition in Japanese culture. Catch a glimpse of the sumo wrestlers' rigorous morning training sessions, held almost daily in their stables, while the Grand Sumo Tournaments are held in Tokyo only 45 days a year.

In the sumo stables, where wrestlers live and train, a ring called "dohyo" takes center stage. Throughout this tour, guests sit in the designated area beside the ring, watching wrestlers train in and around the dohyo, with even a chance for a photo session with wrestlers after the practice.

Highlights and Features

  • Up-Close Sumo Experience:
Our tour allows you to observe the practice up close—an experience not commonly available due to the difficulty of getting stables' permission. Experience the power and precision of the athletes.

  • Your Awesome Guide and Attentive Service:
Meet Yuko, your passionate guide with a wealth of sumo knowledge and fluency in English. Get ready for a personalized experience with our small group tours (up to 6 guests). Yuko ensures you're in the know with a pre-tour email containing sumo basics and watch precautions. During the watch, current happenings are explained in writing and circulated among her group, allowing you to jot down your questions on the cards.

  • Convenient Location:

Our chosen sumo stable is conveniently located near Asakusa and Tokyo Skytree, making it perfect for post-tour sightseeing. Occasionally, due to the sumo stable's practice schedule, we may visit another one near Subway Ryogoku station.

  • Also available for Japanese people:
Participation in the tour is also possible for Japanese individuals accompanying their foreign friends or wishing to preview the practice before introducing it to their foreign friends at a cost of 10,000 yen per person. Please note that separate Japanese language services are not provided.

Highly Recommend Yuko’s Sumo Practice Tour!

Charmain, Queensland, Australia

I had a fantastic experience on Yuko’s tour for Sumo practice! The written cards explaining the various exercises were incredibly helpful, making everything much easier to understand. The meeting point was easy to find, with clear signage, and Yuko even walked me back to the bus stop afterward to ensure I was in the right place.

I chose Yuko’s tour because she specified which beya (sumo stable) we would visit, allowing me to plan my accommodation nearby. This attention to detail made the experience smooth and enjoyable.

If you’re considering a Sumo practice tour, I highly recommend booking with Yuko!
